The Great Revolt
The Great revolt against Rome begins in the year 66 A.D in Caesarea, A city in Judea built by King Herod the Great. Corrupt Roman perfects, an eccentric Caesar in Rome called Neron and the Jews who have had enough of Roman rule and taxation served as the background to the revolt. A detailed, fascinating description of the events is presented to us by A Jewish historian named Joseph son of Mattitiahu AKA Josephus Flavius in A book he wrote in Rome in the year 76 A.D called “The Jewish wars” As A result of the revolt Jerusalem’s temple is destroyed by Titus in the year 70. The last & final heroic standoff will take place three years later in Masada.
To realize & display their sovereignty the Jews mint coins with the inscription Freedom of Jerusalem. This coin with it’s Jewish symbols is A replica of A coin minted in the second year of the freedom of Jerusalem. Second year of the revolt.
